The United States is taking civil action against North Landing Firewood & Hauling, as well as Director Howard Holzmach, Jr., due to suspected violations in the business property. Holzmaker Jr. is a co-owner of the site with his father Howard H. Holzmacher, cf.
The 36 -acre property of 3829 North Landing Road has about 28 acres of wooded wetlands along the River River, an inflow of the northern river of the target, according to the trial.
Civic actions claim that business was constantly involved in clearing land and earthquakes in the areas of wetlands. He has also been accused of holding 30-foot piles of sliced logs, piles of sawdust, tires, old vehicles, broken countertops and others in wetlands.
In 2014, Holzmaker, senior, was informed that unlawful materials were found in about 1.7 acres of wetlands in the property. Although he agreed to remove the materials immediately, the case claims that he did not.
Holzmaker, a senior, was ordered to submit a recovery plan, but an EPA inspection of 2022 found unauthorized material in an additional 3.15 acres of wetlands. The EPA issued another request for a refund plan, the claim.
The trial asks the company with headquarters of 3313 Heffington Drive, to stop releaseing unauthorized materials, to fill restoration works, to pay civil sanctions and to cover legal fees.
The Clean Water Act prohibits the disposal of any pollutant by any person, unless authorized. The law establishes sanctions up to $ 25,000 a day for each violation. In addition, the Environmental Protection Agency can seek civil sanctions up to $ 66,712 per day for violation.
North Landing Firewood & Hauling has been operating since 1999, according to the business website.
Family business offers firewood, logs transportation, batch clearing and firewood processing services. The company also advertises a disposal site: “If you have logs, stumps, wooden chips or brush debris and you have nowhere to take it, bring it to us!”
