Trenton, Mich. (CBS Detroit) – A dog that fell through the ice was rescued by frigid waters on Monday night in Elizabeth Park of Trenton.

The Trenton Police Station and the social media publication described the situation as “a remarkable act of courage and commitment to community safety”.

Rescue efforts began after the arrival of 911 call around 5:20 pm, saying that a dog fell through the ice in the canal in Elizabeth Park, the Wayne County Park Square along the Detroit River and Avenue West Jefferson. The Corporal Bond and officer Bedasun arrived on the spot in minutes and created a rescue plan as the animal struggled to stay in frigid water.

Badsun entered the water, piercing through areas of ice, while the relationship coordinates the efforts of a trunted water. With his efforts, the dog was safely brought ashore and reunited with his owner.

The video provided by the police showed the efforts with rope and other equipment against the background of broken ice to reach the dog and pull it ashore.

“Their quick thinking, teamwork and willingness to put harm, they embody the very nature of public service. Thanks to their courage, life was saved,” Police Deputy Jeff Naiz said in his statement.

As a follow -up of the emergency call, the Trenton police department asked residents to be cautious about frozen water bodies, especially during winter temperatures, as seen in recent weeks.

“If you see a person or animal on a disaster, call 911 and avoid being at risk by trying to save,” the report said.
