Edwards has been charged with an attempt at first -degree murder, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegal possession of a pistol from a minor and release from firearms when prohibited. George is accused of flight by an officer, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless operation of a vehicle, and disposal of firearms when prohibited. Davis has been accused of illegal possession of the machine gun and an aggravated attack with a firearm.

Investigators say the situation began when West Baton Rouge’s parish sheriff reacted to calls fired on the North River Road near Catherine Road.

A suspected vehicle was seen to leave the area and later get into the parking lot at the truck stop and a casino on the 190 highway, authorities said. They added that a deputy was proceeding to the truck stop and noticed the suspect in accelerating from the parking lot.

Investigators said the deputy had tried to stop the traffic, but the suspected vehicle had not stopped and a short distance had passed until the extension of Gremillion Road. One of the people inside the suspected vehicle eventually came out and, according to the messages, smeared a gun and a rifle, according to investigators.

Investigators say the deputy has shot one of the suspects, causing that person to suffer injuries that are not life -threatening.

The driver of the suspected vehicle and a third party was reported to be on foot and were removed at a short distance, the authorities said. They added that a gun and rifle had been restored and it was found to have been stolen from the parish St. Martin.

The replacement deputy was immediately released on administrative leave after the shooting. However, the deputy is now returning with a complete obligation after a pre -examination by the District Prosecutor’s Office.
