A consultant on winter weather conditions has been issued for parts of Vermont, with snow accumulations expected to reach up to 9 inches in some areas, which made employees alert residents of dangerous travel conditions.
Why does it matter
The service of the National Meteorological Service (NWS) in Burlington, Vermont, has issued a consultation on winter weather conditions in force from 19:00 to 10 am Wednesday. The consultative covers the central, northwest and southern Vermont, including Lamoy, East Franklin, East Chitenden, East Adison, East Rutland and Western Windsor.
The accumulation of snow is expected to vary between 3 and 6 inches, and in some places it is possible to make a more heavy snowfall.
The most heavy snowfall was predicted to happen between 3am to 3pm on Wednesday, with percentages reaching half an inch per hour at times. These conditions can make both morning and evening traveling insidious due to smooth and snowy roads.
What to know
The advisor warned that road conditions could become dangerous, especially during peak hours of travel on Wednesday. Motorists were called to show caution and allow extra time to travel. The Vermont Transport Agency advises residents to stay out of the ways, if possible, and pay for extreme care if travel is required.
Temperatures are expected to remain freezing, which is likely to lead to the accumulation of snow on untreated roads and sidewalks. Winds can also contribute to the blow to snow, reducing visibility for drivers.
The upcoming Vermont time forecast
After the consultation period, Vermont is expected to experience a blend of sun and clouds with different temperatures. On Thursday, clouds and sun intervals are expected, nearly 21 degrees F (-6 degrees C) and about 17 degrees F (-8 degrees C).
On Friday, it can bring low clouds, with periods of snow and rain in the afternoon accumulated up to 2 to 4 centimeters, and the roads can be slippery. The tall is expected to reach 38 degrees F (4 degrees C), with a low level of 12 degrees F (-11 degrees C).
Saturday is expected to be much colder, with cloud and sun intervals nearly 14 degrees F (-10 degrees C) and low about -3 degrees F (-19 degrees C).
On Sunday, cloud conditions are expected, with a small afternoon snow, nearly 26 degrees F (-4 degrees C) and about 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C).
What do people say
In his consultation, NWS in Burlington said: “Snow decreases from early this evening. Additional snow accumulation from 1 to 3 inches per storm total from 6 to 9 inches.”
NWS added: “Plan for slippery road conditions. Snow -blowing areas will significantly reduce visibility. Dangerous conditions will affect tonight/trip.”
What’s next
NWS will continue to monitor the storm and provide updates with the development of conditions. Residents are encouraged to check local reports and tips for the time before they make travel plans.
Snow removal crews will be located in the affected areas, but complete clearance may take time, depending on the degree of snowfall and current weather conditions.
