Montpelier, VT.

“Vermont’s habitat print is intended to allow anyone interested in wildlife to help improve habitat for different species of private land and 130,000 acres of the wildlife management area (WMA),” said the temporary temporary Commissioner for Pisces and Wild Animals Andrea Shortley. “Habitats print funds also go for the land acquisition project to expand or create new WMA and to improve existing WMA.”

In 2024, the department spent $ 129,385 from the habitat print Fund. These dollars have contributed to the help of improving habitats with landowners and partners to protect 96 different properties in 62 cities to take advantage of local pollinators, songs, amphibians, bats, deer with white tails, turkeys and other wild animals.

Technical assistance was provided on seven urban forests in Duckbury, Newbury, Goshen, Wojcot, Lincoln, Ferrisburg and Richmond to help lead to forest management plans and improve wildlife habitat. A total of 64 acres of invasive plants control were carried out on 10 Fish and Wild Animals Departments WMAS. Fisheries biologists from the Fish and Wildlife Division continue to restore the habitat on rivers and flows by improving the passage of the water organism, improving alternating habitats and restoring the coverage of the instrument.

The habitat seal is inspired by the migrating seal of waterfowl and federal seal of a duck, which raises funds for the conservation of wetlands from hunters of waterfowl, which are required to show print with their license. Habitat print is a way for conservationists who usually do not buy a license for hunting, fishing or capture to contribute to the efforts to protect the habitats of the state.

“Although we can be proud of the achievements of the Habitat Fund this year, there is still room for growth,” Shortlaiev said. “We especially invite Vermonters that do not contribute to conservation by buying a license for hunting, fishing or capturing to consider buying habitat printing this year. This is one of the most direct ways to move on to your dollars to support biodiversity in our country in 2025. ”

The annual habitat print report 2024, emphasizing the preservation work through the program, is available online at VTFISHANDWILDLIFE.COM. The coincidence of habitat projects sponsored by The Stant comes from the American Wildlife Restoration Program and Sports Pisces.
