Verdict pending on forward Dakota Joshua’s return to Vancouver Canucks – Canucks Daily

With the Vancouver Canucks on a 4-game winning streak, the team isn’t looking to make major roster changes. But now that Dakota Joshua is almost ready to return from his rehab for cancer surgery, he will be a welcome addition.

It was announced yesterday (Oct. 26) that Dakota Joshua was seen working out before the teams’ game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the only thing viewers noticed was that he wasn’t in his red “non-contact jersey.”

Dakota Joshua in white practice jersey, same as all other #Canucks forwards by choice. I haven’t had and probably won’t have much contact here with 11 skaters on the ice.

While the risk of contact in the optional pregame skate was small, it appears Joshua is making strides in his cancer recovery and progressing toward a possible return sooner rather than later.

Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet said earlier Friday that the 28-year-old was very close to being cleared by contact, and this new development proves him right.

The 28-year-old Pow forward has become a major fan favorite after his breakout year last season with the Canucks, in which he scored 18 goals and 32 points in 63 games. It was expected that he would carry that caliber of play into the 2024-2025 season, but in the summer he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

Surgery was performed to remove the lump and with recent reports indicating that he has opted to continue with contact and he will be ready in 1-2 weeks, fans can expect him much sooner than that.
