UW receives a national prize for Community effort, Student Wellness – Oil City News

Laramie, Wyo.-The University of Wyoming has recently been declared the recipient of the prevention network in 2024, which recognizes higher education institutions that demonstrate leadership in the safety and well-being of students and the construction of the community.

Introduced by Vector Solutions, CPN Seal of Prevention creates a safer, more inclusive campus through comprehensive education for digital prevention based on evidence on issues such as alcohol and drug abuse, sexual abuse, mental health and community construction. CPN Seal of Prevention creates guidance on the pretentious quality online education for the prevention and implementation of practices and prevention of positions as central to key institutional results.

UW’s UW Recreation and Wellness Center received the National Award for five consecutive years. UW courses, evaluated for CPN Seal for prevention, are managed in UW through the Hope Program. The program uses an approach to reduce harm by promoting a wellness standard for a healthy, informed choice of alcohol use and preventing the use of illegal drugs by college students.

“We are frequent and grateful to receive this award for the fifth consecutive year. Our digital prevention programming allows us to inspire the values ​​of construction and contribute to a safe community in the campus before students even arrive at UW, “said Alea Bierezer, hopes of the program. “This is just one piece of our overall approach to prevention, which extends throughout the student in UW. This work is possible thanks to the commitment of many campus partners. We have seen that this approach helps the creation and stability of a community of an informed campus that takes care of each other. ”

Studies conducted by Vector Solutions show that 34 percent of adult schools are more likely to attend a college or university with CPN Seal for prevention. Among the current college students, 77 percent believe that it is important that their institution has achieved the prevention seal. The recipient institutions have an average of 6 percent higher percentage of first-year retention and 7 percent higher in time, a four-year graduation rate compared to those who have not reached the press.
