For some, the annual tradition marks a special time in their lives. One UW-Madison alumnus, Michael Prelo, traveled from Maryland to attend the parade and football game. Prello said it’s the first time he’s been back on campus in 50 years.

“It’s an emotion that I’ve felt everything about since I was here as a student,” Preloch said. “It’s so cool and such a good feeling to be here.”

People also celebrated at the Memorial Union after the parade to enjoy music and dancing on the terrace.

Another alumnus, Sam Loken, celebrated on the terrace with other former students.

“Wisconsin means so much to both of us,” Loken said. “It’s part of who we are as people. So we go back and celebrate accordingly.
