Updated appeal after another breakthrough at the Irvine Community Sports Club – Irvine Times

Updated appeal after another breakthrough at the Irvine Community Sports Club – Irvine Times

It comes just weeks after the club was left to count the costs when the vandals had previously headed for the center of Road Marress.

On January 18, the hub was closed as police investigated a one -night breakthrough, in which responsibility carried out “serious acts of vandalism”, including major damage caused at the club’s gym, changing rooms, toilets and facilities.

At that time, an appeal of funds was launched, as the club, which supported various sports teams, seemed to recover.

However, less than three weeks later, last Thursday evening, February 6th, Irvine’s place suffered another major blow.

The club claims that the masked men have forced to enter the premises before being “scared” by a member of the gym present at that time.

Although they say that the damage to this occasion was not so extensive, more work is now needed to repair destroyed properties, and the fitness facility cannot operate 24 hours more normal.

A spokesman said: “Unfortunately, this has damaged our front access to the main building, which means that we need to settle with contractors to repair/replace this entrance.

“Therefore, in a short time, we have to secure the door early at night to ensure that the club is secured and these idiots cannot attack the club we love so much.

“We ask all the members who could help open and close until we receive repairs/replacements arranged to contact the club to discuss.

“We are trying to preserve this facility open as much as we can in our normal opening time, although it is a charity managed by the Community, we cannot fulfill all the time to open during this time.”

Of course, police are still investigating the previous breakthrough and officers are now looking for the latest incident.

A police spokesman in Scotland said: “Around 10.30pm on Thursday, February 6, 2025, officers received a breakthrough report in rooms in the Road Marress Road area in Irvin.

“Inquiries continue.”

Meanwhile, those from the Irvine Community Sports Club hope the locals can reunite in their time of need.

The spokesman added: “We will work hard to bring the perpetrators to justice and to ensure that we can continue to do our facilities that the community’s treasures and not have to lose valuable money, completing repairs due to the meaningless yobi.

“We significantly appreciate all donations and are amazed at the amount that has already been collected so far.

“We are trying best to stay open and we hope you can help by possibly giving even a small amount of £ 1 to help repair the damage.”
