UNR hosting at gardening seminars until March – Kolo

Reno, Nev. (Kolo) – The University of Nevada hosts a series of gardening classes until April 1.

The classes will be offered from 18:00 to 20:00 from February 18 to April 1 at the Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Renault.

“Of those who are simply interested in growing houseplants to those with large gardens and landscapes, these classes are great for anyone who wants to learn from experienced master gardeners who live, grow and harvest in our area of ​​North Nevada “, Rachel McClur, lord gardener coordinator for extension in Washo County, said.

The free classes will be taught by certified expansion staff or the volunteers of the chief gardener.

  • Feb 18
  • February 25: Adapted landscape – master gardener Susan Arnie will share how to apply principles of protective space and proven steps to improve personal safety and survival of the home during fire.
  • March 4: Pond/Water gardening – the coordinator of the chief gardener of the extension Rachel McClur will discuss gardening with ponds and water characteristics.
  • March 11: Vegetable journal, starting – master gardener Diane Muniel will share the value of garden journals and tips to help you along the way.
  • March 18: The sliced ​​flower garden – the chief gardener Deborah Henderson will discuss how to choose, grow and harvest plants for sliced ​​flowers and share tips for collecting bouquets.
  • March 25th: Successful gardening for the garden gardener Randy Robyson will share their tips for successful vegetables in our unique climate and conditions.
  • April 1: From this year’s flowers to the plants next year, everything for the seeds – the main gardeners Rod Haulenbeek and Mark Humphreys will talk about successful gardening with seeds.
