WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – A full volume test of the University of North Carolina (UNCW) warning system is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12, according to a release from the university.
The test is due to start at noon and will include the external siren system as well as emergency notification system communication tools via:
- Campus emails
- UNCWAret texts and calls
- Pop-up notifications on university computers
- The UNCW Alert Safety, Safezone app from CriticalArc
- The UNCW mobile app
No community or campus action is required during the test.
“In the event of an emergency, the university may use some or all of these tools, as well as additional resources, to communicate with the campus community, depending on the circumstances,” UNCW said in a statement. “Please ensure that you only rely on official university announcements during emergency situations. Students, faculty, and staff are automatically signed up for emergency campus text messages, calls, and emails. Contact [email protected] to confirm, change, or delete your number from the system.”
