Derek Rosa is against accusations of first -degree murder of being claimed to have stabbed her mother, Irina Garcia, approximately 40 times with a kitchen knife, according to official documents. The horrific action happened in the family’s apartment while his newborn sister fell asleep in another room. The brutal nature of the crime and the young age of Rose deeply shocked the community of South Florida. He is currently kept in the Metro West Adult Prison.

Current court proceedings

More than a year after the crime, the lawsuit is still underway. Although the date of the test remains unspecified, it is expected to happen in June, banning more delays.
