In the middle of 2024, the General Lake Investigations section (GIS) investigation into drug trafficking in the city of Studeno Lake was launched. Three people were arrested and removed as a result of these search orders.

Rumbolt was also the subject of a suspended sentence order in connection with previous charges, which is alleged to be in violation.

Thomas Hinch (40), a resident of Stetler, AB and Shyanna Mills (21), a resident of Drumheller, AB, has been charged with the following crimes. Hinch was released from justice justice with conditions to appear in a court of St. Paul Alberta on February 6, 2025. Mills was refused on bail and remained in custody until his next court appearance on January 30, 2025 in St. Paul Alberta Court.
