LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Two people were escorted out of the City Council meeting Monday, Nov. 4, after a verbal altercation broke out during public comment.

Witnesses told KGNS that two women had a verbal disagreement at City Hall and were escorted outside, while outside one woman punched another woman.

KGNS has not independently confirmed the physical altercation.

Video captured by KGNS shows a group of people arguing as Laredo Police Chief Miguel Rodriguez Jr. tries to defuse the confrontation.

One person seen in the video, among the group, is a candidate for City Council District 8.

A reporter on the scene asked LPD Chief Rodriguez for comment, but was not given one.
