Two McQueen Champions, one for Spanish springs in Boys State Wrestling – Reno Gazette Journal

This was not quite the result Joe Imeli hoped, but he was proud of his Spanish Springs wrestling team until the end.

Slam Nevada defended his team from the 5A class team at the State Wrestling Tournament held on Friday-Saturday at Rafer 3C Arena in Fallon.

Slam scored 280 points; The Spanish Springs were second with 130, and McQueen took third place with 123.5.

Cugars had 18 ammunition from men who qualified for staff, the most of the team had ever had. But it was not enough to overcome Slam’s dominance.

Immeli said that learning how to deal with disadvantage and continue to fight is his main message to the Spanish Springs fighters.

“If you compete every time and fight, carry the battle, you can do many things in your life if you just show up and want to fight for it,” he said.

McQueen Jeromi Mom’s coach said that the final of Lancers’ third place and only 6.5 points behind the Spanish Springs is one of the best that the team has had for several years.

“We had a good performance as a whole. We had a few losses that hurt us in a team, but some of these children are children who come up with things and they will be ready to be ready to compete in a year,” Mom said.

The prestigious citizens in Virginia Beach at the end of March are next for many of the fighters in the high school in the area.

Individual North Nevada champions in the 5A tournament include: Cooper Sandoval, Sophomore, McQueen 106 pounds; Abe Coronado, a sophomore, McQueen, 120 pounds; Cormak Anderson, Senior, Spanish Springs, 285 pounds.

Slam Nevada had eight champions and three runners -up.

It was his second state title for Sandoval.

He said it was just a matter of finishing the job, as he won with PIN over Eric Bis, Slem, in the 3:47 brand.

“I’m just saying in my head,” I can do this. “It doesn’t matter who the other person is.” I’ve done it thousands of times before. I just know what to do. “

McQueen Metor Abe Coronado was third last year. He defeated Frank Soliz, a helmet, 15-5, at the final on Saturday.

Coronado said he had heard people talking about him before the match, saying he had already reached his peak and had no chance.

That shot him.

“It really happened to me on my nerves and I wanted to show what I could do,” Coronado said. “Thousands and thousands of repetitions. Infinite practices, this makes it easier here.”

Cormak Anderson was second last year, and he was still recovering a serious knee injury as a sophomore Tat was protecting him from the state tournament. He defeated longtime rival and friend Dom Porter, Senior, Carson, 8-5 at the final on Saturday.
