Two interstate traffic shifts come into force this week – 13newsnow.com Wvec

Norfolk, Washington – Drivers in Chesapike and Norfolk can notice changes in their journey, as two traffic shifts are coming this week.

The Ministry of Transport of Virginia or Vdot says that both changes will exist in a few months.

The first will change the Interstate 64 East and the Interstate 464 to the north near the fork in Chesapik.

Traffic to the east between the fork and Boulevard “Martial Pole” has shifted left to the average, then moved along the ramp to the I-464 to the north. This change came into force on Tuesday.

Vdot says traffic to the north I-464 will also shift left from the exchange onramp to the military highway. This change is expected to continue until next summer.

The output 291A of the ramp from I-64 to the east to I-464 to the north will be closed overnight next week to make the shift and other work on the ramp.

In Norfolk, drivers who usually get on I-64 to the west through Tidewater Drive will have to overcome. This change came into force on Thursday. By the fall, those who go up to the interstate will drive under the overpass and take a Lefthand turn tape to get on I-64 to the west.

Meanwhile, the current closure of the ramp to the east of Tidewater Drive will continue until 2026.

VDOT encourages drivers in both areas to be cautious near work areas and follow posted signs.
