The Trump Administration’s decision to pause to finance stations for charging electric vehicles will have a pulsation effect on the clean energy projects in Texas.

Lori Clark of the North Central Texas Council of Governments said the pause would affect 60 EV charging projects planned throughout the country. She added that she had uncertainty about the environmental effects.

“I do not know that there is really a clear answer about how much the overall air quality improvement will slow down,” Clark said.

Although some projects are slowing down, Clark said that another 29 have already gone through the main stages needed for construction. EV drivers can expect more highways loading stations between North Texas and the main cities of the country.

“People who want to travel will start to see these loading stations for free soon in multiple directions,” Clark said.

Clark runs clean energy initiatives in the region as part of the DFW Clean City Program, which works to reduce the use of energy in transport and improve air quality. She said that while there was a delay, the Trump administration’s decision would not affect the long -term expansion of the clean energy infrastructure.

“Although this is a very big program, it is just part of what is happening on the spot in terms of infrastructure loading,” Clark said. “[EV] Charging is a convenience that many developers see, adds value to residents or customers. “

Cities in North Texas hastened in recent years to build EV infrastructure to keep up with increasing demand. Almost 95,000 people drive EV in northern Texas, according to state registration data. Asked what it means to stop funding, the city of Dallas declined to comment. A Denton spokesman said the city has received its funding from local money and some states and projects will not be affected by the federal pause.

However, the pause can affect the $ 7500 tax loan for EV drivers included in the Law on Reducing the Biden Administration of 2022.

“These tax loans may have a question mark on them,” Clark said.

The pause also questions the federal money for the company of Trump advisor Elon Musk Tesla, which is based in Austin. As NPR reports, Tesla received about $ 31 million awards through the Nevi program.
