The Commission on Presidential Debates officially canceled the second presidential debate this week after President Donald Trump’s campaign initially refused to agree to a virtual debate against Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
Now, instead of holding a single town hall-style debate, each candidate has organized their own event where they will answer questions from constituents in attendance.
Thus, President Trump is planning a visit to Miami this Thursday. The meeting with voters will be organized outdoors at the Pérez Art Museum Miami in the evening.
During the hour-long event, NBC’s Savannah Guthrie will moderate a conversation between Trump and a group of Florida voters about critical issues affecting their vote less than three weeks before Election Day.
Both Guthrie and the president will be at least 12 feet apart from each other and the audience. The public will also be socially distanced and asked to wear face masks while indoors, answer a symptom questionnaire and have their temperature checked before entering the open air.
Joe Biden will also host an event on the night the debate was scheduled to take place. This will be held in Philadelphia and will be moderated by ABC.
Florida and Pennsylvania are key states in the election.
