Washington, Colombia County – Trump’s Administration, nominated former Game and Fish Director of Wyoming Brian Nashvik last week to serve as the next director of the US Fish and Wildlife Service in the United States.
Following his appointment by governor Mark Gordon in 2019, Nesvik served as Wyoming’s G&F director until his retirement in September 2024. He began his career with Game and Fish in 1995, serving the agency in various positions, including Game Warden, Regional Director of Wildlife, and Chief Game supervisor.
Along the way, he also served in the National Guard of the Wyoming Army for 35 years, retiring as Brigadier General in 2021.
The NESVIK nomination will go to the Environment and Public Procurement Committee for a full vote to confirm the Senate.

In the press release, the National Federation of Wildlife called on the nominated NESVIK to prioritize the restoration of species and the protection of habitats.

In a video on Instagram for American Hunters and Anglers Ection Network last week, public lands Land Tawney praised the Nesvik “in trenches” of management and implementation of natural resources. He said his organization is looking forward to working with the new director or challenging it when needed, to manage and strengthen the nation asylum system.

Safari Club International in a message says that the nomination marks a “main moment” for the future of wildlife management in the United States.

Currently, Nesvik is sitting on the Wyldlife Fund, a non -profit purpose that raises money for Wyoming G & F. His profile on his website says he graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1994 with BS on biology and wildlife management and fishing. In 1995, he was selected by Wyoming G&F to serve as a technician for the law enforcement of the wild. In 1997, he was elected trainee for the warden in Casper, Wyo.
During his career as the warden, Nesvik serves several areas that included patroling areas for a remote desert in the summer and autumn and defended one of the herds of Weyoming deer deer in winter. He has worked several complex cases of poaching for winter scope and was also a leading horsepower instructor.
In 2010, Nesvik was promoted to serve as a regional leader of Cody wildlife, where he dealt with problems with endangered species, including bears and wolves of grizzly and challenges to manage moose -to -border herds of Yellowstone.
He was appointed to perform the post of Chief Way Wayoming and Chief of the Wildlife Division in 2011. In March 2019 Until he retired last fall.
