Trump nominates Brian Nashvik as US Fish and Wildlife Director – Cap City News

Cheyenne, Wyo. – The former director of the game and fish of Wyoming Brian Nashvik has been nominated to perform the functions of the next director of the Fish and Wildlife Service in the United States. Wyoming’s leaders, including Senator Cynthia Lummis and Governor Mark Gordon, praised the selection, emphasizing the decades of Nevatak’s experience in the conservation of wildlife.

President Donald Trump has announced the nomination of Nesvik, a move that attracted strong support from Vayoming’s employees. Lummis called it a “great solution”, citing Nashvik’s dedication to work with hunters, landowners and outdoor enthusiasts.

“Brian has spent his entire career serving the Wyoming people and works with equipment, hunters, landowners, fishermen and anyone who loves the great outdoor,” Lummis said. “This attitude and passion for balancing wildlife protection and recreation access will serve it well in this important role.”

Nesvik served as the Director of the Wyoming Game and Fish Division from 2019 until his retirement in 2024. During his term, he focused on balancing efforts to protect with public use of land, a priority that is aligned With his new federal role. Governor Gordon, who appointed Nesvik to the State Agency, expressed confidence in his ability to lead to national level.

“Brian could not be more skilled and appropriate to serve in this significant role,” Gordon said. “He had a long career in the conservation of wildlife and is proud of extensive experience and leadership, dealing with the complexity of the problems of endangered species.”

The nomination of Nesvik is coming as wildlife management policies continue to influence the vast public lands and hunting industries of Wyoming. His experience in these areas positions him to navigate federal efforts to protect, while dealing with state problems.

Prior to a leading match and fish, Nesvik served in the National Guard of the Wyoming Army for 35 years, retiring as a brigadier general in 2021. His military career included two combat departments and leadership roles that control 1,600 soldiers.

Nesvik’s background in wildlife management and fishing, combined with his military leadership, made him a respected figure in both preservation and public service. He holds diplomas from the University of Wyoming and the US Military Army College specializing in strategic research.

If confirmed by the Senate, Nesvik will control national wildlife protection policies, the protection of endangered species and access to recreation for relaxation across the country.
