Trump holds campaign rally in Madison Square Garden: New York street closures and security measures – AS USA

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will beginning of the last week of the campaign with a rally on Sunday, October 27 at 5 p.m Madison Square Garden in his hometown of New York.

The high-profile event will feature speakers including a billionaire Elon Muskformer independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy JrSpeaker of the Chamber Mike Johnsonand a right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson.

The Trump campaign said the event at the venue, which can hold nearly 20,000 people, is sold out.

When is Trump’s campaign rally at Madison Square Garden? New York street closures and security measures

NYPD says it is prepared for the rally and that there is enhanced security around Madison Square Garden.

City officials say there was no credible threats to the rally so far, and the police will increase their presence in the area.

“You will see a uniform, strong uniformed presence around the Garden. You will see heavy weapons teamscounterterrorism, aviation, transit trail on that Seventh Avenue,” according to NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell, according to CBS News.

The size of the 5:00 p.m. rally on Sunday, October 27 is likely to cause traffic, so authorities are encouraging New Yorkers to to take the subway if they join the rally or go near the place like train service will not be affected.

New York will close some streets to both drivers and pedestrians starting early Sunday morning.

  • 33rd Street between Sixth Avenue and Eighth Avenue
  • 32nd Street between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue
  • 31st Street between Sixth Avenue and Eighth Avenue
  • 30th Street between Sixth Avenue and Eighth Avenue
  • Seventh Avenue from 34th Street to 29th Street – closed to pedestrians
