The CUI swimming and diving teams earned four PCSC weekly awards from their recent meet in Pomona Pitzer. Alice Steiner, Chloe Dobbie, Noel Landonand Jackson Rosol all contributed greatly to the success of the Green and Gold this past week.
Steiner was rightfully awarded Swimmer of the Week this week and performed extremely well at the Pomona Pitzer and won two events while recording the 5th fastest time in the 100 (53.14) as well as the 7th fastest time in the 200 (1:55.79) in the PCSC Conference. For the 400 relay, she swam the third-fastest time in the conference (3:34.91) and is just outside the CUI top 10 all-time. Adding to that list, she also posted a season-best 50 free in the triumphant CUI trip to Clermont.
Next on the list is Chloe Dobbieand her name should be familiar, as this is Dobie’s second weekly award of the season where she has been recognized by the PCSC conference. Dobie was named Female Diver of the Week for the second time and had another outstanding performance at the meet and took first place in both the 1m and 3m events while setting a collegiate PR in each event. In the 1m event, Dobie scored 246.00, the second highest score recorded in CUI history. Her 3-meter mark of 238.55 also ranks second, putting her just eight points shy of the school record.
Noel Landon is the third Golden Eagle to earn weekly recognition, in which she won Swimmer of the Week her freshman year. Landon swam to three PRs in the 50-100 back. She set her first PR at the B 200 MR, in which she achieved a top 10 PCSC time, and then improved it in the 50 back (which ranks #4 in the PCSC). Next, Landon broke the :59 barrier in the 100 back, which was announced as a PR of 58.95 and also #5 in the PCSC.
Rounding out the weekly awards for the week is the first grader Jackson Rosolwho posted some impressive numbers at the Pomona Pitzer, and he rightfully won Swimmer of the Week as a freshman. Rosol dominated the 400 IM with a season-best 4:08.42, which is currently the fastest time in the PCSC and 16th nationally in NCAA Division II. He was also runner-up in the 100 back in 53.24, the seventh-best time in the PCSC.
The Golden Eagles are eager to carry the momentum into the Wyatt Balman Invitational on Nov. 9.
