Training moments: Internships – public radio in South Carolina

For public radio in South Carolina I am Dr. Renard Harris of College in Charleston. It’s SchoolingMinute education for students and parents.

Internships are an essential part of the experience of college. According to data collected by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, more than two -thirds of the 2024 graduates had an internship during their college career.

My colleague, Jim Alison, CEO of the Charleston College Career Center, says students who use a career center have a much higher percentage of providing an internship and full-time interview.

For students at college, the internship is more than a simple resumption builder, it is an opportunity to gain practical experience, understand the dynamics of the workplace and put the basis for a successful career.
