Tough night in San Francisco for the Wildcats – The Orion

The Chico State Wildcats Volleyball the team faced the No. 20 The San Francisco State Gatorsbut failed to shake California Collegiate Athletic Association despite a great individual performance by the Wildcats.

Junior across the street Cash Olswangsophomore outside hitter Cassandra Nall and junior middle hitter Gwyneth Wenzel combined for 24 kills as a freshman setter Claire Nordeen led the team in assists with 22. Defensively for the Wildcats Nordeen proved she could do both, grabbing 12 of the Gators’ digs as a junior libero Jesse Camarillo collected nine cop.

The three-set game on paper failed to show how competitive each set was, as the Wildcats led most of the first set and were tied 23-23 before the Gators pulled away.

In the second set, the Wildcats took the match to within three points (23-20) before the Gators strung together two points to make it two sets to zero.

By the third and final set, the Gators had built up momentum and were riding high, keeping the Wildcats at arm’s length and sealing their 17th win of the season.

The Wildcats will look to get back into the win column against California State San Bernardino Saturday from 5 p.m Arena Kousoulis. Watch live with Flosports or follow live stats here.
