Topeka’s support shines in Top City Promise’s second year gala – Wibw

Topeka, Kan. (Wibw) – Top City Promise has already helped over 200 refugees integrate into the Topeka community – to provide them with a place of living and resources to establish life.

Their second annual charity gala attracted nearly 300 people, doubled last year’s attendance. Many of the board members have expressed pride in the city because of its constant support.

“It warms my heart that we have so many people who still pay attention and still pour their heart for those people who go through some imaginary things,” said President Aaron Kip.

This support laid the foundation of refugees to live not only in Topeka, but also to work there, which only enhances the wealth of the capital.

“Being able to have this symbiotic connection with where everyone benefits from being here, the beauty of who they are is just incredible,” added member Pilar Meja.

The perfect example of this is Larysa Chernytska, who escaped from Ukraine just less than a year ago. She now teaches in public schools in Topeka, helping learners in English.

Asked what did this transition a little easier?

“Kansas’ most large treasure, people, people,” Chernitska said.

During a very difficult and emotional time in her life, Top City Promise and the whole community of Topeka brought her comfort.

“I was amazed at people who live here because I did not expect support, help, help and their love,” Chernitska expressed.

Just like the Masquerade Theme, the guest’s message, Angela Hughes, was focused on the discovery of the stigma to provide relief to refugees.

Hughes has moved refugees from the border of Ukraine-Poland and emphasizes how critical these organizations are. She applauds that the highest promise of the city not only helps them survive, but also really flourish.

“There are many things that happen between them, but so that they can go to a city that welcomes refugees and then give them hope, they give them steps to pass to the next level, this is exactly what should happen in the United States, said Hughes.
