Topeka, Kan. (Wibw) – A school in Topeka continued his own long -standing tradition, watching Kansas Day.
McClure Elementary students spent the day making their own homemade bread. Second -grade teacher Karen Palmer says that mixing ties in their plan for lessons, emphasizing the origin of the state and giving the children an idea of how pioneers settle in the territory.
“They need to know Kansas’s history and what the pioneers did and sacrificed for us. It is important for children to remember the past so that they can apply it in their future. “
Palmer says students are also proud of the end product, and she has even been asked by former students years later whether her class is still doing so.
