TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A Topeka man was arrested for alleged property damage after a shooting Tuesday morning.
According to Sheriff Brian C. Hill, a 50-year-old man is in custody after an incident Tuesday morning in a neighborhood near SW 17th Street and SW Urish Road.
The Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call about a person trying to enter the back door of a residence in the 7000 block of SW 19th Lane on Tuesday, Nov. 5, just before 3:30 a.m.
When deputies and officers from the Topeka Police Department arrived, they set up a perimeter and multiple homes and vehicles were located with bullet holes. A person matching the description was located and quickly taken into custody. An abandoned rifle was also found in the neighborhood.
Darren L. Pinnick, 50, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.
Pinnick was arrested on the following charges:
- Criminal damage to property – two counts
- Felony discharge of a firearm
There are additional charges to come.
