TOPEKA (KSNT) – Topekans who want to learn more about the influence and history of the Menninger family can visit their local library later this month for a special event.
The Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library has announced that it will host a Menninger Clinic 100th Anniversary Celebration from 6:00pm to 7:30pm on Monday, November 18th in the Marvin Auditorium. Dr. Walter Menninger and former staff will be in attendance, sharing memories of their time at the clinic before its departure from Topeka in 2002.
Members of the Shawnee County Historical Society will help co-host the upcoming roundtable discussion. Other people with connections to the clinic who will be attending include:

John Allen – spent 40 years at the Menninger Clinic as a staff psychologist.

Dr. Marcel Baumann-Bork – Psychiatrist and co-founder of the Heritage Mental Health Clinic, who spent 18 years at the Menninger Clinic.

David Park – first moved to Topeka in 1970. for a postgraduate program in social work at the Menninger Clinic and remained there until 2001.

Ira Stramm – worked at the Menninger Clinic for 23 years in the adult hospital and outpatient department.

Dr. Roy Menninger passed away recently on October 24th at the age of 97. His brother, Walter Menninger, spoke to 27 News about his brother a few days after his death.
