In the last yearBonhams is fighting a little. He often drives great cars when sales, but it seems that the company is struggling to find buyers. This is surprising to me because Bonhams has some of the best customer service in the whole auction space for a boutique. He has always been out of his way to make everyone who get to their sales feel welcome and part of the family. This is a point of difference for Bonhams, which is difficult to repeat as it comes directly from the culture of the company.
One of the big reasons for the trouble is that several of the best Bonhams specialists have moved to other companies. This includes people at the top, such as Malcolm Barber and Jacob Gracesen.
On a more positive note, Bonhams made a number of new rentals, and the specialists I encountered were excellent in their work. In addition, former Bonhams employee Nick Smith, the founder of Bonhams motorcycle auctions in the United States, returned. I think these new rentals and rehiyas, combined with changes to the auction schedule (removing the Amelia Island event), will help to return Bonhams to the market in a big way. Things like this take time. I guess the fruits of his works will be paid at the time when the Monterey Car Week 2025 rolls around.
During the Bonhams Auction, Scottsdale last week the auction house made a number of exceptional cars, with everything-from the Ferraris and Mercedes-Benzes multimillion dollars to the initial cars. Let’s go through my list of the five best cars offered for sale.
1. 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250sl
This car was an absolutely stunning restoration of the W113 Pagoda Mercedes SL. The color changes from white to slightly metal green; The cabin had the right leather upholstery. Every detail of the restoration of this car was absolutely perfect, from the carpets and the interior to the slits of the hood where the headlights were mounted. It is for sale for an incredibly reasonable $ 134,400 and will enjoy the new owner for years to come.
2. 1987 Nissan Skyline “Type HR31” GTS-R Nismo Group A
Although this car may not mean much to older collectors, for those younger enthusiasts who have grown up by playing Gran Turismo (yes, I’m talking about you, Tyson Hugh), this car is a very big deal. These cloves literally dominated Group A competitions in Japan and made the heads of the people of the Toyota racing team explode. The reason for Nissan’s silhouette is as popular as it is today is because of what these cars have done on the track. What makes this copy extra special is the calsonic liver, which is original for this car – the first to carry this liver. It is emblematic not only because of the great success that the Calisson Nissans had, but also because this exact car was available in the best-selling Gran Turismo video games. It is for sale for very fair 201 600 dollars. I think it was a very good purchase; I would not be surprised when this car worth $ 500,000 over the next five years.
3. 1956 Austin-Heyeli 100-4 BN2
This Austin-Hiley 100 was a great example of the best of the big heli cars in a real sports car, not the heavy car that Helly became with the 3000 series. This vehicle was completed in ancient Aangli white on a tan leather interior , there was a great panel and all the details correctly and it looked and it sounded ready to drive in a classic car rally. I guarantee that the price of $ 56,000 on this car is part of what it costs to refund. What a great purchase.
4. 2005 Aston Martin Vanquish S
In the world of supercarries, Aston Martin Vanquish has been and continues to be an absolute deal. These were the last handmade astons from the old Newport Pagnell factory and are as stunning to watch as they drive. V12 under the hood sounds better than almost any other modern V12 on the planet. Inside, these astons are as luxurious as you would expect to be, with one of the most beautiful modern dimensions ever designed. This Vanquish S sold for very fair $ 61,600 – less than half of its original retail price. I still think the world will wake up and see the value of these cars, which will increase their prices.
5. 1967 Lamborghini Miura P400
This last car is an example of how no To sell your car in auction. The owner spent three days lurking by his car during the auction visualization and talking about his car to anyone who would listen. He would not allow anyone to touch him, would not allow any of Bonhams’ employees to touch him or start him, and he had a completely crazy idea of what his car costs. The pre-sale estimate was astronomical $ 2.2-2.8 million. There were auction participants in the room who bid it on a market adjusted $ 1.8 million, but the owner refused to sell. The bigger parts are that anyone interested in the car now knows that the owner has put an unrealistic price on it and that the high offer data are there to see the world. It was a nice car, but owned by someone who looked like they didn’t want to sell it.
Yes, Bonhams’s numbers were less than incredible, but it brought good cars to Arizona and sold several of the high dollars, including 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL for a strong $ 1.49 million. I sincerely think that Bonhams is about to surprise us this year. I wish the people there the best in 2025
