The value of hard work is something that works in the Hoewisch family.
“Only a part of the DNA I guess,” Jacob says. “When four generations, before putting your blood sweat and tears in it, you feel obliged to continue this.”

Jacob’s great-grandfather began the farm in the 1880s. Jacob says he knew he wanted to take the family farm in the fourth grade.

“It’s not a job, if you like it, it’s just a day you do what you love,” he says.

Jacob and his wife Jennifer have three young children. Jacob says his goal is to create a sustainable business to hand over to his children.

“We’re just trying to make it better than we found it and ready for our hope our children,” he says.

Exclusive America’s farmers are a national organization that works to create a network of farmers and celebrate their hard work.

Each year, the AU hosts the National Awards Competition for exceptional young farmers. Farmers have been nominated for the award.

Jacob was nominated and won the top 10 in the national competition.

“One in 10 people who need to be awarded from the 50s is hard to understand almost,” he says.

The award recognizes the achievements in agriculture, sustainability and participation of the Community.

Jacob was the only Wisconsin farmer and the only dairy farmer to make him the top 10. He says he hopes his award will emphasize the agricultural industry as a whole.

“I present 2% of the population,” he says. “If you are dealing with farming today, you are an exceptional farmer. There are not enough prizes for all 2%, but if there were, they should give them away. ”
