Tonje, called Oscar Robertson Trophy List of Observations – Wisconsin Bangers University

Madison, Whis. Men’s basketball senior from Wisconsin John Tone It was named in the Association of the American Basketball Writers Association 2024-25 Oscar Robertson Trophy List of Observations on Monday as one of 50 Division I players in the country recognized as honor.

The Oscar trophy Robertson has been awarded the best player of the nation since 1959, as elected by the US Basketball Writers Association. The award is the oldest of its kind.

The list of observations in the middle of the season includes a list of 50 players, which the association’s board recognizes as contenders as a national player of the year. The award will be announced during the Final Four of NCAA for men from April 5-7, with the final list for watches and voting being released earlier.

Tonje is a graduate student in his first season with Wisconsin, before playing for Colorado and Missouri. The guard enjoys a career season for Badgers – the leading team with 18.6 points per game. Tonje ranks in the top ten of the country both in free throws and a free throw rate.

Omaha’s native, Nebraska scored 41 points earlier this season in victory over No. 9 Arizona, the fourth most in the history of the program, and his 21 made free throws set a new Wisconsin record.

The Wisconsin player had previously won the 2015 award when Frank Kaminski took the awards after led Badgers to the NCAA Championship.
