FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Three suspects have been arrested in two deadly shootings in Fresno this year.
The Fresno Police Department announced Wednesday afternoon that it has concluded two separate investigations that led to the arrests of a trio of suspects in recent murders less than a month apart.
“These particular homicides are very violent, resulting in close to 100 shots fired in both incidents combined,” said Fresno Police Lt. Paul Cervantes.
Fresno police have identified 27-year-old Donte Harmon and 30-year-old Maurice Fields as suspects in a Sept. 10 shooting in the area of Abbey Street and Garland Avenue.
When they arrived, they found Sylvester Choi with gunshot wounds.
The 35-year-old man later died at the scene.
Two others were wounded by gunfire but managed to survive.
“In this particular incident alone, approximately 35 rounds were fired, which highlights the intensity of the attack that day,” Lt. Cervantes said.
The second shooting happened on October 20 in the area of Myers Avenue and Arthur Avenue.
While responding to a follow-up call from ShotSpotter, officers found 35-year-old Patrick Dixon suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite life-saving measures, he died in hospital.
“Between both incidents, we’re talking about an extraordinary amount of rounds fired,” Lt. Cervantes said.
The third suspect, Nathan Rodriguez, is already in custody for an unrelated crime.
He is charged in connection with the September 10 murder.
“No fewer than 25 search warrants were created and executed. As a result of some of those warrants, we recovered six firearms,” Lt. Cervantes explained.
“These weapons that we found were actually the weapons that were used in the Abby murders and the Myers murders.”
Both Harmon and Fields were changed in both murders with the help of Sacramento police and Fresno police.
Fresno Police are appealing to the public as they believe there are more individuals responsible for these deadly shootings.
“Given the number of rounds that were fired, it’s only by the grace of God that we don’t have more victims that were struck by gunfire and/or actually dead,” Lt. Cervantes said.
Anyone with information about these shootings is asked to call the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000.
