FREMONT, Neb. (WOWT) – A three-car crash northeast of Fremont killed one person Friday afternoon.
According to Dodge County officials, a 911 call about a three-vehicle crash on Highway 275 at Luther Road came in around 4:20 p.m. Friday.
According to a release, an investigation showed a red GMC pickup was southbound on Luther Road when the driver crossed Highway 275. The eastbound Mustang struck the pickup on the driver’s side, sending the GMC into a ditch south of Highway 275. Mustang then spun and hit the GMC Yukon.
The driver of the GMC pickup truck was taken to Methodist Fremont Health, where he died of his injuries. The driver’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The crash remains under investigation, but speed and alcohol are not considered factors in this crash.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Fremont Fire Department, Fremont Village Fire Department, Fremont Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Parks, in addition to several “Good Samaritans” who stopped to lend a hand .
