Thomas Ravenel is coming out of the South Carolina Governor’s race days after the application is announced – wpde.com

Just days after he announced his candidacy to be governor of South Carolina in 2026, former reality TV star, and previous state cashier Thomas Ravnel announced that he was no longer running.

Known for his role in the Bravo Reality-Television Southern Char series, announced Ravenel on Tuesday that he has changed his opinion by saying:

As a lonely father of three young children, I believe this is not the time to run for a governor of South Carolina. Therefore, I withdraw my intentions to be a candidate for governor in 2026. At this stage of my life, it is much more important to raise my young family than to apply for a political position.

Ravenel’s short -term application was not met without a reaction. In 2007, Ravenel resigned from his position as a state cashier against the background of federal fees for cocaine distribution. He was sentenced to 10 months in prison.

In 2019, Ravenel escapes prison after pleading guilty to the nanny attack in 2015.

As for potential candidates in 2026, reporter Nancy Mace has already said that he is considering running for a governor.

They are also considered potential candidates for governor are General Prosecutor Alan Wilson and lieutenant Pamela Evet.

Governor Henry McMaster recently made the story as the longest -time governor of the state, Palmo at 2927 days. McMaster took the governor Nicky Haley in 2017 when Donald Trump appointed her UN Ambassador. He was then re -elected twice afterwards.
