Thomas Detry wins the first victory of PGA on Phoenix Open – The Straits Times

Phoenix – This went so well for Thomas Detri from Belgium that there was no reason to step away until he opened on Phoenix.

The 32-year-old Detrie was strong until the final, shooting six under 65 to gather his first PGA Tour victory on February 9th at the TPC Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona.

“That’s what dreams are made of,” he said.

Detrie continued to improve on the journey for a total of 24-on 260 and a seven-shot win, becoming the first Belgian to win an event at the PGA Tour.

He put a dazzling show for the last round, playing the last eight holes in a combined five floor with four consecutive birds to finish the tournament. He released his last Put of almost 10 feet.

“I want to be here and it’s pretty amazing to play golf the way I’ve been,” Detri said.

A former Golfer at the University of Illinois, Detri remained controlled for most of February 9. Then he stabbed his troika about his foot from the glass to Birdie, the famous hole in the stadium # 16, building his advantage of five strokes.

But there was simply no catch of Detrie.

“I was doing it well all week and I was just trying to do my best to put pressure on him, but every time I felt I had made a bird, he made a back,” Berger said.

“Today he played a really great golf and deserved to win that.”

Jordan Spilli (68), which started a circle tied in a second, could not be maintained and ended at 16 floor, tied to fourth with Cristiaan Izdidhut in South Africa (66).

Mealimi Noh, meanwhile, won its first LPGA title on February 9, ahead of the South Korean Ko Jin-Young down the final holes to win the founders’ founders with four strokes.

Noh, a 23-year-old American, shoots three under 68 to finish 21-on 263 after 72 holes in Florida Country Club.

“It means so much to me,” she said. “I have worked very hard in the last few years and have gone through many struggles.

“I really told myself that 2025 would be my year, so this is the best way to start it.”

The three -time Ko founder’s Cup, a two -time main champion, stumbled with three spells in the last six holes to shoot 71 and set up in second place in 267, with American Megan Hang’s third in 268 after 68. Reuters, AFP
