Immigration is already local.

Several police departments in South Florida have signed agreements to support federal immigration agents in their cities. This is part of the 287-G agreements you may have heard of.

The agreements are not new, but on the fast song of last month, when the new state law on immigration was aligned with the Trump administration policy.

Technically, they give up as when choosing, although the consequences are not unclear to departments that are not involved.

Florida has more police departments than any other staff involved in the agreements, sheriffs in all 67 counties in Florida, and in the last week Hyalea, Davey, Sun Islands, Key West, Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens, all signed.

Coral Gables was the first city in Miami-Dad to join, on the advice of police chief Ed Hudak, who is also the legislative chairman of the Association of Police Chiefs in Florida.

Hudak joined the host of South Florida Glaza Milberg this week to discuss, and their discussion can be seen at the top of this page.
