This week in 2020 – Durham County was battered by the Kiara Storm – the northern echo

The Kiara Storm caused damage throughout the region in February 2020 with heavy rain and strong winds causing floods, interruption of power supply and interruption of trips.

Parts of the Yorkshire Dales saw some of the most severe floods, with the roads completely submerged in Swalendale, Arkengartale and Wenslidale.

Police and fire services have called on people not to travel unless they were completely necessary and multiple trains were not canceled due to the violent conditions.

Archaeologists have discovered that the human remains, which they believe, are the worst famous Durham resident in February 2020.

A team of archaeological services at the University of Durham found the bone fragments while excavating Clipat, in Durham, on a site developed and operated by the student castle for an accommodation student.

They dated the remains they found in a shallow pit, up to 90BC-60AD, making the deceased the earliest recorded resident of the city.

The greater part of the identified bone comes from the human skull, although parts of their radius (forearm) and shin (shin bone) were also restored.

From the rest, the experts were able to find that the person was an adult and was cremated, but could not determine his age or gender.
