This is what a 145-home estate will look like once it’s built on historic land in County Durham – Yahoo News UK

Images of what 145 properties will look like once built on a piece of historic land in County Durham have been revealed.

The first homes have gone on sale at the new Hedworths Green on Bellway in Lambton Park, near Chester-le-Street.

The Bellway subdivision in Durham is building 145 new homes at the historic country estate, which was the ancestral seat of the Earls of Durham.

Bellway’s plans for Hedworths Green include a cafe building overlooking the village green, which will feature a traditional-style oil cross.

The development just off the A183 Chester Road is on land that was once the site of Lambton Lion Park – an attraction which displayed lions, hippos, giraffes, elephants and zebras and attracted many tourists in the 1970s.

Alongside the images released, the builder said it was offering a deposit of up to £32,500 when buyers bought one of the new properties.

The offer is available on selected plots in County Durham with projects including Clarence Gate in Bowburn, Hedworths Green in Lambton Park near Houghton-le-Spring and Wellfield Rise in Wingate.

Gillian Bell, Sales Manager for Bellway Durham, said: “This is an amazing offer which is specifically designed to help prospective homebuyers buy the energy efficient new build home they’ve been dreaming of, but without having to spend years saving for large deposit.

“The incentive, which is open to buyers who book selected plots before the October 31 deadline, will allow buyers to benefit from a significant increase in their deposit, which will help them reduce their monthly mortgage payments.

“This can make a crucial difference and bring a new home within budget to more and more people.

“We would encourage anyone who could benefit from this deposit to contact us. Our expert team will explain the details and guide them through a process that can see them achieve their home ownership goal much sooner than they thought possible.”
