Thin Lizzy release an acoustic album!
The Acoustic Sessions are abridged versions of their songs from the archives of the late Phil Lynott and drummer Brian Downey. Due out on January 24th, Eric Bell has reimagined the songs, adding acoustic guitar to songs from the 50th anniversary super deluxe of Thin Lizzy’s self-titled 1971 debut, Shades of a Blue Orphanage and Vagabonds of the Western World.
“I remember recording ‘Eire’ from our debut Thin Lizzy album in 1971. I wrote the main guitar part acoustic first and then we built it from there. I played the 12-string acoustic throughout the song and introduced the electric on top,” Bell said in a statement. “This came in handy in the studio in Belfast recently, where we recorded fresh guitar parts to allow us to create new Thin Lizzy acoustic versions of some of our favorite songs, recreating those original acoustic parts and adding the vocals that Philip recorded on the day and those original drum parts that Brian came up with in the original recording sessions.”
