Orlando, Flag. – A lawsuit is reported on Wednesday accusing the Charter of Communications in negligence at the death of a news reporter in 2023.
Lawyer Mark Nim held a press conference on the case brought by the estate of the 24-year-old news reporter Dylan Lions, who was shot and killed while covering a fatal shooting story earlier in the day.
It is claimed that “through indifference, recklessness or gross negligence, the actions of charter communications contribute to the death of Lyon.
Charter Communications owns Spectrum News 13 who Lyons worked as a reporter when he was shot dead and killed on February 22, 2023 as he covered the murder of 38-year-old Nataca Augustine.
Lyons and 9-year-old Major T’onna were shot near the place of an earlier firing by a man later identified by the sheriff of Orange County as 19-year-old Keith Moses.
T’yonna’s mother, brandi Major, and Jesse Walden, a photographer at Spectrum News 13, were also shot and injured.

Later, Moses was arrested in connection with the death of Augustine, T’onna Major, Lyon and the shootings of brandi Major and Walden.
The claim states that the spectrum had a “responsibility, power and obligation” to provide a job without serious dangers.
“This is a case that we think should be heard,” Naim said before handing over the floor to his partners by law.
The claim also claims that Lyon was “commanded” by Spectrum to report on Harrington Drive’s shooting and Hialeya Street, although his employer knows that Moses is still “free.”
“One of the things we see is that in the last eight years 321 journalists have been shot or shot and killed, which is an amazing number,” said lawyer Ryan Vesio. “Every day, journalists in this country just go to work to announce the news. Journalists are in the profession of love and to inform our community about things like what happened this day. However, the main security measures can go a long way to protect those over 300 journalists. “

“All employers have an obligation to defend their journalists and to protect their employees,” Vesio continued. “And those of you who bold the worst of the worst of the love of your work and to report news to the community, you deserve to be supported. You deserve to be protected. You deserve to have safety so you can do this job. “
WKMG released a statement about the safety of the news crew:
