These are the 3 foods that “will increase your chances of living past 90” – Irvine Times

The published author took to the popular social media platform Instagram to share the secrets to a long and healthy life.

He told his fans: “Because of these foods, people living on the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica are 2.5 times more likely to reach the age of 92 than people living in the United States or Europe.”

He then asked the question, “How many of these do you eat every day?”

In a video shared with his 617,000 followers, Dan Buettner went on to praise Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula for its high life expectancy and low middle-age mortality.

He attributed most of this to what he described as “the best diet that man has ever devised.”

This diet is said to consist of corn, which is used to make “delicious” whole wheat tortillas, pumpkin, and “five different varieties of beans.”

He added: “(That with) these three foods together, you can live your whole life.

“You need some vitamin B12, but it contains all the complex carbohydrates and proteins necessary for human sustenance.”

The researcher previously explored the diets and lifestyles of people living in the so-called blue zones in a Netflix documentary called Live to 100.

These blue zones are said to be areas with the healthiest and longest living populations.

These include Okinawa in Japan, Sardinia in Italy, Nicoya in Costa Rica, Ikaria in Greece and Loma Linda in California.
