City of Friendship, Wkow, the child’s family, which was rescued by their Adams school bus driver, talks about experience.
On January 10, the video for the Adams school bus, which filmed 9-year-old Catherine Dornacker, suffocating his bracelet while on his way home.
The driver, Jamie Skokik, stopped the bus and jumped into action by performing Hayimlich’s maneuver on Dornacker.
“I remember making a bracelet with the video” C “, then stopped and accidentally swallowed it,” Karin said. “Then I don’t remember anything and then technically Miss Jamie told me to breathe.”
The boy who screams and signals the help of Smoczyk in the video was the brother of Catherine, Jonathan.
“Her face flushed and she fell to the ground and I called Miss Jamie five different times until he heard,” Jonathan said.
But despite the traumatic experience, the family had nothing but a thank you for the quick thinking of their hero bus driver.
Justin and Catrina Nelson are the parents of Karin and Jonathan and are grateful for the Smoczyk rescue actions.
“I saw children suffocated and I saw how scary it was and how you should react and her reaction was exactly how it should be,” Catherine said.
After the accident happened, Nelson said they never forgot to thank Smoczyk for saving their daughter.
“I saw Jamie’s reaction, so I realized it’s a pretty intense moment on the bus,” Catherine said. “You know, a child is choking, it’s quite scary and super thankful that there are great reactions and instincts that there are.”
“We should not put things into our mouth, especially with moving vehicles,” Catherine said.
