The Wilmington man convicted of shooting at night 2024.

Wilmington, NC (Wect) – a Wilmington man faced 33 years in prison after jurors found him guilty of attempted murder and other related charges.

The police caught 30-year-old Antonio Beatty when he tried to escape from the Pravda nightclub after shooting two people on April 14, 2024. A victim was on the club floor with multiple firearms on the side and the stomach.

“The evidence shows that Beatty and the victim are known and that he is intended for the purpose of Beatty during the shooting,” said district prosecutor Jason Smith in a press release. “Evidence shows that Beatty and the victim are known and that he is intended for the purpose of Beatty in the shooting.”

The victim almost died and underwent numerous operations afterwards. At the upper thigh, he was shot at the upper thigh and was taken to the hospital to be treated.

“Employees immediately lingered [Beatty] On the street and found the gun he uses in his pocket. The club surveillance video, along with the cameras worn out of the officers’ body, filmed the whole incident. The rest of the rifles was also found on the rubber glove that Beatty wore during the shooting, “said district prosecutor Jason Smith.

Beatty was condemned for:

  • Attack with a deadly weapon with the intention of killing
  • Inflicting serious injuries
  • Pistol
  • Carrying a pistol to an alcohol establishment

“The Wilmington Center should be a safe place for everyone to enjoy. The use of Beatty’s firearms seriously injured two people and could hurt more. The rapid response and in -depth investigation by the Wilmington Police Department, along with the cooperation of witnesses to this firing, allowed the successful pursuit of this case by Ada Druis in the case, “said district prosecutor Jason Smith.

According to Smith, Beatty was previously accused of killing Carlton Whitley in 2015. Jury admitted to him not to be guilty of the process.
