Virginia Beach, Washington – A convicted criminal was arrested after trying to avoid the traffic safety checkpoint, which made the police detect ammunition and marijuana in his possession, a Virginia Beach police station said on Monday.

34-year-old Earl Alan of Virginia Beach was taken on February 8, 2025 after making an illegal turn to avoid a checkpoint in Bonney Road 4400 block and escapes from officers. Police enchanted the area and detained Alan after a brief persecution.

Alan is charged with a crime, avoiding, reckless driving, possessing ammunition as a convicted criminal, possessing the intention of distributing marijuana, preventing justice, registering leaked and illegal shade of windows.

The Virginia Beach Police Department Safety Department organizes two checkpoints to deter the violated driving and to check to comply with licensing, registration and checks. The operation led to 31 summons and two DUI arrests.

“I want to thank our traffic safety ward and other employees who have assisted these traffic safety checkpoints,” said VBPD chief Paul Needgate. “Target and aggressive movement helps to keep your roads safe for vehicles and pedestrians.”

Alan is now facing numerous accusations after police claims to have tried to avoid the routine checkpoint and was later found in possession of smuggling.
