Baton Rouge – The door knocked on the door changed everything. The oldest nightmare of the parent became a reality when the detectives knocked on the door of Travis and Anna Harrison at the end of Saturday night. The news they betrayed broke their world: their son Trevor Harrison was gone.
For Harrisons Saturday, it started like any other day. Their son Trevor had left his home around noon, eager to help a family friend’s family. He promised to meet his family overnight in bowling, a small break before the last section of college. These plans changed and Trevor never went home.
Instead, the detectives arrived at Harrison’s household late that evening.
“We thought it was the delivery of the Amazon,” Anna recalls, her voice trembled. “Then we saw two men standing at the door. My husband knew immediately. He was watching these detective shows … He knew. “
The officers spoke, their words broke the world, as Harrison knew it.

Their first question was the only one that mattered.

A stray bullet struck Trevor through the driver’s side window, killing him instantly. Police say the incident happened at 4660 Fairfields Ave. His truck, which is already lifeless diverted from the course, crashed into a parked car. The bullets slipped nearby, leaving only broken glass and horrified neighbors. But for Harrison’s family, the destruction was far more bad – a volatile void, where their son’s future once shone so brightly.

Heartfelt pain and urban crisis
“He always smiled, always helping people,” Travis said with his voice fat with grief. “He didn’t even do plumbing because he was about to finish. But when Austin called and told him about the situation, he said, “I understood him. I’ll help. It was Trevor. “
“He was an excellent artist,” said Travis, a broken pride in his voice. “Ever since he returned home, he has taught his little sister – she is the only nine – how to draw. He was gifted. Trevor’s mother, Anna, talks about the circumstances that led to her son’s death, recalling the moment when she realized that he was working in an area she wished to warn him.

Her father, coach Tom Farrell, had devoted years to the mentoring of disadvantaged children in the community itself, who would later claim to the life of his grandson. The irony crushed Anna’s heart.
“When I saw Eden Park, I immediately thought of my father,” she sobbed. “My father was a coach there for seven years. Coach Ferrell. Everyone knew my father and he actually did a lot for this community, “she said.
Her father, Tom Farrell, grew up as an orphan in Jersey and was a basketball star at school and in college. He is committed to making a change in the life of disadvantaged children.

Crisis
Grief quickly became anger. Harizons require answers – resident change.
“That should stop,” Travis said with his voice, filled with rage and pain. “No one is feeling safe anymore. People do not value life. Where is the community? Where is accountability? “
The Eden Park area has long been numb with a crime, the reality that Trevor was not fully aware of.
The Harizons are calling for further laws, a dedicated “gang working group” and real consequences for those who terrorize their streets.
“This cannot continue to happen,” Travis insisted. “Good children die. Families are destroyed. At one point, we, as a community, have to stand up and say “enough”. “
The fight for justice
“Do you know that at one point the community must come together and start making a position against this violence. As if there is no God in their lives, there are no church in these people, they are soulless, “said Travis, referring to the people behind weapons.
Trevor killers remain unknown. The police have not yet made any arrests, and the motive behind the shooting is unclear. Fear is confronted with the community – the university is hesitant to go forward. “People are afraid to talk,” Anna said.
But the Harizons refuse to let their son’s murder fade in other statistics. They require justice – not only for Trevor, but for every innocent life lost by meaningless violence.
“We want to know who did this,” Anna said firmly. “We want them to be held accountable. We will not stop until they are. “
The Harizons feel confident that Mayor Sid Edwards is taking a step towards cleaning the crime in the city. Travis Harrison says he has strong ideas that he is ready to share.
“This city is sick,” he said passionately. “I hope to meet Mayor Sid this week. Changes must be made. I want tougher laws. They terrorize our city. “

For Harrisons, nothing will return Trevor. But they will fight, so no other family should feel the pain they now wear.
