The Vermont Futures Project launches its economic plan – Eagletimes.com

Montpelier, VT. -Vermont Futures project has recently announced the launch of its long -awaited economic action plan, a complete, data -informed road card designed to cope with Vermont’s workforce and housing challenges and to provide a prosperous future for the state. It was formed by public engagement with over 5000 Vermonters in all 14 counties. The plan sets clear, long -term goals and offers strategies that can be placed on Vermont on the way to accessibility and abundance.

“Vermont is facing critical challenges, from a shrinking workforce to a severe housing shortage,” says Kevin Chu, CEO of the Vermont Futures project. “This plan is not only to identify problems, but also to provide information informed solutions that are aligned with the hopes, dreams and ambitions of Vermonters.”

The Vermont’s accessibility crisis and the growth of the stagnation of the population strained public services, increased the costs of housing and limited economic opportunities. Without strategic actions, these challenges will continue to destroy the economic vitality of the state. The economic action plan offers a bold alternative – a future of accessibility, sustainability and shared prosperity.

The economic action plan offers a double framework for people and places, focusing on strategies that can be used to recruit and retain people of work, increase the participation in the labor market, expand housing and infrastructure and bring to Compliance compliance with developing community needs.

“Vermont is a leading indicator of the country regarding the economic impact of demographic data and the shortage of housing. We have the opportunity to be leaders in how to deal with these challenges. The data is not fate; If we don’t like where the trends line go, we can do something about it. Plan’s main goals – 2035 targets

Population increase: Increase Vermont population to 802,000 inhabitants

Homes engagement: increase the percentage of participation in the workforce to 70%

Housing Expansion: Increase Vermont’s Non -seasonal housing fund to 350,000

Effective Development: Reduce Development Times and Regulatory Costs by 40%

Achieving these goals will require increased progress of 2% of housing growth annually over the next decade.
