The unruffled audience is present "Not sanctioned by the city" Trump Rally at CSI Hanger in Albuquerque – ABQ RAW

Albuquerque –

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign and New Mexico Democratic leaders have been at odds over where the former president will hold his rally for his NM supporters. Ultimately, the campaign decided to stop the campaign at CSI’s aviation operations center at Cutter Aviation.

There were some logistical hurdles for supporters to get to the venue with parking and snarled traffic near the Albuquerque Sunport. Albuquerque Sunport spokeswoman Diana Lopez emailed this morning:

Albuquerque International Airport advises passengers traveling today to plan ahead as there is significant congestion at all entry points to the Sunport. Heavy traffic is expected to continue in the morning and afternoon. In addition, passengers who need to return a vehicle to Sunport rental facilities should also anticipate delays. There is no impact on scheduled flights at this stage.

A reminder that the lunchtime rally for former President Donald Trump is private, non-city sanctioned event takes place in a private hangar.

The Republican presidential candidate had a rally at noon and his team flew in on one of his private 757 jets with the TRUMP logo emblazoned on the fuselage. He arrived shortly after noon to a crowd chanting his name and trying to catch a glimpse of him as he exited the plane.

We at ABQ RAW are terrible at counting people with large crowds. We’d rather not get into a debate about how many people attended, but we can tell you that the venue was packed with standing-room-only crowds within fire department restrictions, and many supporters rallied for the former president. There was an outside holding area with a big screen for people who couldn’t get inside to watch the rally.

Former President Trump spoke for more than 1.5 hours on topics related to national issues and New Mexico issues.

Mayor Tim Keller posted on social media about “unpaid” invoice from a visit in 2019. The mayor of Albuquerque has had the invoice for over 4 years. It cited $211,175 in unpaid fees related to police, the center’s closing and sick leave due to workers being sent home early.

Governor Michelle Lujan-Grisham released a statement via her campaign email list:

SANTA FE — Donald Trump’s rambling and disjointed speech today made it clear why New Mexicans have rejected his candidacy twice, and why they will again on Tuesday. While visiting the most Hispanic state in America, Trump continued to lobby against Hispanics and defend his rally by calling our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters “garbage.” Today in Albuquerque, the former president trashed the Affordable Care Act and made it clear that his only “concept plan” is to kick 324,000 New Mexicans off their health insurance and raise rates for 843,000 New Mexicans with pre-existing conditions . New Mexicans reject the anger, division, lies and chaos of Donald Trump and support Kamala Harris’ vision for a new way forward with a clear, effective plan to improve the lives of all Americans. The choice is clear, and I urge New Mexicans to join me in supporting Kamala Harris on Election Day, November 5th.
