The Athletic Department of the University of South Carolina announced on Sunday that the DJ in the arena of the women’s basketball team was stopped for a game for the choice of music released at the end of Gamecocks victory over LSU on Friday.
The DJ, which goes by the stage name DJ, play the song “Cut Friends” by Camouflage. The artist, whose real name was Jason Johnson, was the father of the player LSU Flau’jae Johnson. He was killed in 2003, about six months before Flau’jae was born.

Flau’jae Johnson posted on social media a photo from the DJ account on Instagram, which refers to the song. She added the message: “I’ll take my L on the chin, but it’s just a nasty behavior.
The South Carolina Athletic Department writes on social media that DJ’s actions are disrespectful to the LSU program and the fans and that the conference of the conference and passionate fan bases should improve sports and not be used to target individual players.
“Her actions were understandably upset about Flau’jae Johnson and her family and disrespectful to the LSU program and fans,” said the athletic department. “We regret that I came to our place after a game that saw both teams capture the level of national attention that the women’s basketball won, and we apologize to Flau’jae, her family and LSU.”
DJ to apologize for choosing a song, but said it had nothing to do with the LSU player.
“I apologize for playing the Cut Friends Instrumental in the game yesterday,” she said in a statement on Saturday. “It is never my intention to ignore anyone or to offend someone when my job is to have fun and make sure other people have fun. Even in other games, but I didn’t have to play it in yesterday’s game.”

According to CBS Sports, Johnson completed the match on Friday with 13 points at shooting 6 to 18, while ranking four rebounds and a pair of assists. LSU eventually shoots only 29.9% as a team in the loss.
Johnson was a selection of a second team throughout his performance in the 2023-24 season, CBS Sports reported.
