Recognizing that this was a long overdue, the County Don Don Townsend CEO escaped a rare, joint work session between the Trenton City Commission and the DED County Council Council on Tuesday night.
The meeting focuses on a long -standing only topic; Animal control.
Officials from both the city and the county have long expressed a mutual desire to build a specialized animal facility to serve the collective needs of the Community, but critics say the problem has collected a little more than the oral service from previous administrations, with unwanted administrations stray dogs and cats paying a small final price.
But since between the plus plus session, it was developing between the round table, more questions remained unanswered as specific concerns such as staff, operations and cost control.
Trenton Mayor Alex Case says the county already owns the place for an offered animal facility, but claims that the city will need considerable financial assistance from the county to build the offered facility. The mayor’s case says that Trenton has already budgets for improved animal control and envisages the use of Splost funds to supplement the total construction costs.
DED BOB Woods County Commissioner proposed a deliberate approach to the problem, stating that he wanted standard operational procedures and a specific mission for the proposed facility. “We are opening a whole box of questions from Pandora with this,” says Woods, who was elected with Commissioner Melissa Bradford and the executive, Don Townsend as representatives of the county for the new Joint Animal Control Committee.
Mayor Case, Commissioners Monda Wuten and Terry Powell were identified as representatives of Trenton for the newly formed working group.
Vutten stressed that he hoped for a quick solution to be an innovative soon for the facility, suggesting that the Spray and neutral program could be a stream of revenue for the shelter using the medical area.
Commissioner Bradford expressed the need to decide whether the proposed building would be a shelter for animals or animal facility, noting the difference.
Bradford also celebrated the area’s agriculture The community and the need for bigger animals such as horses that are sometimes encountered.
In a rather multiple exchange over the construction and operation of the facility with Commissioner Wuten, the district commissioner Deid Philip Hartline said a problem with control, “But you know what, you will come back and you will say that this is not enough. I will not pull the trigger and then direct the gun. “Wuten replied to Hartline’s criticism that” she will not be discouraged. “
Two things were agreed before the postponed meeting to accept the site of the facility in Trenton and the newly formed committee.
Both agencies say they plan to update their relevant animal code regulations and investigate possible financial grants to finance the offered facility.
