The Center for Tallahasese’s Challenger Training, the Famu-FSU College of Engineering K-12 STEM Outreach Arm, has proudly hosted two extremely successful events as part of the Florid State University (FCA) Festival (FCA). This marks the first cooperation between the Challenger Training Center and the festival, bringing together teachers, students and staff in different disciplines to deliver interactive art experiences focused on space, creativity and discovery.

On Saturday, February 8th, the Central for the Challenger Training presented Shakespeare and the Stars – a unique synthesis of literature, space science and arts. Participants examined the links between Shakespeare and Space works through interactive art projects, music sessions and practical activities and demonstrations, led by teachers, employees and students of English, art education, music education, Challenger training center and even the flying high circus. The event conquered the students and families of K-12 with its creative practical approach.

The excitement continued on Sunday, February 9th, with “History Under the Stars,” an enchanting evening for young children and families. The guests gathered under the heavenly sunshade of the Fogg Planetarium to enjoy classical stories in a magical setting. The special guest FCA Reader Reader was Christine Hansen, manager of the Askew Student Life Center program, whose engaging story revives the experience.

“This collaboration showed the magic that happens when science, art and imagination come together,” says Alan Hanstein, CEO of the Challenger Training Center. “Seeing young minds to shine, as they associate literature and creativity with the wonders of space is exactly why we do what we do. We are proud that we are part of the Festival of Creative Arts and we are eager to build this success in the coming years. “

The director of the festival and research associate of the arts and humanities Iain Quinn sounded the mood: “This is the first FCA cooperation with the Challenger Training Center and I am excited that it was such a success. Seeing teachers and students from multiple colleges working together and public engagement was wonderful. Looking forward to next year. “

Both events demonstrated the constant commitment of the Challenger Training Center to provide innovative, interdisciplinary attempt to train STEM/Steam’s Tallahassee Community and outside.
